Mount Carmel

Location: 8 miles south of South Rosenheim

The area was visited as early as 1921 by Fr. Matthias Schnitzler. He saw to the building of Mount Carmel church in 1925.

            Mount Carmel became a mission served by Father Francis Schachtel, pastor of Assumption Parish, South Rosenheim from 1926 to 1931.

            A new Assumption Church was built in the town of Bodo in 1953-54. The new church was blessed on August 25, 1955 and from that date the mission of Mount Carmel in the country was closed.

            Mount Carmel Church was moved to Compeer in 1957.

            Mount Carmel Cemetery is located at N.E. 10-35-1-W.4.
